If you buy map 064 Val di Non-Le Maddalene Cles-Roen-Mendola (1:25 000) from the tourist information in Fondo there are local walks up into the hills, we walked to San Antonio a tiny chapel with a viewpoint. Through the woods with Alpine flowers and shade. The map shows the tracks as red lines. Just turn right up the hill from the hotel keep walking you will see the track into the hills right turn also visible on Google maps satellite view. You can also walk through the woods and over the hill to M Penegal about 1.5 to 2h. Good footwear needed. I would recommend getting the map to avoid getting lost although there are some signs. There is a tiny shop with groceries and local products 5 mins down the hill on the way to Malosco. The hotel itself is clean, it has blankets in the summer the extra duvet was in the cupboard. There is no tea and coffee in the rooms but we took a travel kettle. There is no mini fridge. The shower is good. We had half board the food was great and amazing value. Breakfast is delicious yoghurt 2 choices, fresh bread rolls, Alpine butter, variety of jams. Lots of cakes, a platter with salami, ham, cheese all very good. Not much choice but that's why the price is so good. And you can have too much choice. You are offered tea, coffee different varieties. I found the coffee quite strong so asked for aqua calda (hot water, caldo means hot and fredo means cold) and coffee with milk and got a jug of hot strong coffee, a jug of hot milk and a jug of hot water so could have lots of coffee exactly the strength I like. They also do a small cup of cappuccino or cafe latte or expresso. One day we had apples. You can buy fresh fruit in the little shop 5 mins away. For evening meal there was one choice but this can be modified. For example I don't eat veal so this was changed to pork. I also had vegetables instead of potatoes. The surrounding is breathtaking: the idyllic pastoral with rolling hills and fields and beautiful villages here and there. I walked my dog before I went to bed, and there were so many fireflies in the field next to the hotel. I felt as if I was in a fairytale. The hotel building is marvellous. The restaurant, the rooms - everything was great. And the people - the family that runs the place are super nice and friendly. The facilities were superb, the number of ‘wellness’ options inside and out including the best views ever from a sauna window, a hot tub and loungers! After a days hike, they were so enjoyed. From the landscapes, the location, these old houses transformed into something amazing. You feel a lot of local culture, if you love the history of the place you will be charged with positive energy. The wellness areas were very relaxing and the infinity pool was great. The rooms look very good and I liked that they leave you a bag for the wellness areas with towels and a bathrobe in the room. I've visited Tuenno two times in 3 years.
I've visited Tuenno two times in 3 years. It is a charming authentic village at the border of the natural park Brenta-Adamello in the west and the Val di Non known for his apple orchards in the east. It is a village with little or no tourists so don't expect tourists shop or large crowds here. Contrast with touristic hotspots like Venice or Lake Garda couldn't be greater. From Tuenno it is only 20 minutes by car to lake Tovel. If you want to visit the lake by car, don't forget to buy your parking ticket in Tuenno. Hikers in for a challenge can visit the lake by foot from Tuenno ( 30 Km hike back and forth ). Lots of other hiking or walking possibilities from the centre or by car. Evening walk between the apple orchards towards Pavillo is also highly recommended. I would defently go back for a longer stay.
