- From $336.38 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 192 reviewsAmazing hotel. Not a cheap one, but it is definitelly worth the money. We definitelly recommend to take a room with a view, seeing mountains in the morning was wonderful. We didn't have a ryokan-type room but were still amazed by the quiality of everything - cleanliness, design, etc. Our room had a capsule coffee machine, a set for drinking tea, hair brushes, hair pins and other small things that added a pinch of comfort to our stay. The hotel also provides guests with Japanese-style clothing: a set of a "shirt" and pants, and a yukata. You can walk in it everywhere in the hotel which was very nice. The hotel has public onsens on two floors, both have open-air baths. The staff is very understanding and would help with the rules of visiting. You can also book private onsens that turned out to be not very expensive. Sometimes the hotel holds special events. We managed to visit stargazing and saw Jupiter through a telescope while eating sweet potatos! The hotel provides a bus that regularly travels through the Arima village. You can also call the hotel to pick you up. The village itself is very beautiful. There is a ropeway to the nearby mountain. I heard you can also hike to the summit.Guest review byKseniaRussia
- From $277.88 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 699 reviewsYou can tell the age of the building from its look. But we have our best stay here during our trip. Great location, right across the road from the station. Great food. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel, it’s so special and delicious, better than the high ranked restaurant we found nearby. Great view. You can literally stay in Ama-no-Hashidate. Quiet, private, without street light at night. The onsen is spacious and well maintained. Very comfy bed. Highly recommended.Guest review byCHIA-HOTaiwan
- From $147.98 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very Good - What previous guests thought, 5,011 reviewsLocation is very good for Universal studios or in general Osaka visit. We had a sky floor room and I can tell you that is worth any penny we spent on it. The view was breathtaking! There are several good eateries in the area as it is near a shopping area. A commute to dotonburi is also very easy and short. We would pick this hotel anytime in case we ever visit Osaka againGuest review byEditGermany

We spent our time around Tennoji.
We spent our time around Tennoji. My wife and son especially liked Abeno Q's Mall. There's a lot of affordable food and shopping. Most people want to go to Dotonbori or Shinsaibashi, but they're just too crowded and not great. I think Abeno is much better.Guest review byMizu.BangkokJapan - 8.0

We've been considering whether to visit Kyoto or not during our Japan holidays. It turned out to be a right decision, as we liked the vibe of the city, very different from Tokyo. I liked the cuisine, lots of excellent restaurants, street food and the fact our hotel was so close to the city center we did not have to take public transport that often. However, what I did not like that much was, that when we had to take the public transport, it was less connected and the connections less clear that in Tokyo. Also, the numerous souvenir shops were more touristy, with less nice things. And, the waiting lines to almost every shop (!) were driving me crazy. For example, waiting line to Onitusuka Tiger shop was constantly 60 minutes minimum, while in Shibuya Tokyo, I was out of the shop in 30 minutes with my new pair on.Guest review byJanaSwitzerland - 10

Kobe being a little smaller than Kyoto and Osaka, seems a little more relaxed. It is close enough to Osaka and Hiroshima to do a day trip and has a lot of unexpected surprises, like waterfalls located 15 minutes walk behind San Kobe station. There are also a number of Ropeways and Cable Cars that take you up to the hiking trails in the mountains behind Kobe. The waterfront area is also very interesting, with an earthquake museum, which details the restoration of the Kobe Harbour after an earthquake, in just 2 years. There is also a nightly light and water show near the Kobe Tower.Guest review byElaineAustralia - 10
Nara is my favorite place in Japan.
Nara is my favorite place in Japan. It has really beautiful natural environment, lovely deer that you can easily see while walking on the street, and very friendly people. It has played a very important role in Japanese history (e.g. Horyuji, Toshodaija, etc. are important world heritage sites), but it does not have that many visitors as Kyoto, which makes traveling in Nara a lot more pleasant than travelling in Kyoto. I highly recommend people to travel to southern part of Nara Prefecture (e.g. Horyuji, Asuka-dera, Tsubosaka-dera, Oka-dera, etc.).Guest review byHSIU-CHUAN LIAOTaiwan - 10

We only stayed one night when we arrived as we needed a place to recharge and freshen up before we head to Kyoto. The hotel is very nice with complete amenities in the room. The room we occupied has the view of the airport runway but we never heard any noise coming from the airplanes arriving and taking off. A bit expensive but it was worth it. Breakfast buffet was very good too.Guest review byAnonymous - 10

After staying in Kyoto, it was refreshing to stay in a smaller, quieter city for a couple of days. Himeji, had ample malls and restaurants to satisfy the needs of all tourists and yet has a nice small city feel. We saw the castle in the afternoon, and didn't encounter large crowds. The Koko-en Garden was relatively quiet when we saw it in the morning.Guest review byJulieCanada - 10

The scenic mountains near the city offers stunning sunset views. The Sakura were in full bloom. There are several parks around the city, and the impressive Wakayama castle. The hotel (Candeo Hotels Nankai) is great value - fantastic river views, rooftop onsen that you can enjoy the sunset. And right at the Wakayama Station. Good dining options around the hotel too.Guest review byKwokSingapore - 10

One of Japan's six ancient kiln towns. If you are into ceramics it's a brilliant place to visit. If you're not, it's a lovely, relaxed town with nice walks and good places to eat. Very close to Nagoya airport. There is a free shuttle bus into Tokoname or use the station. Home of the lucky waving cat - Maneki Neko!Guest review byCerysUnited Kingdom - 10

We loved our trip here. Little did I know, I seem to enjoy travelling in a pretty laid-back city and Ise was just perfect for that. If you're craving for a small city experience, out from the other international travelers, I'd recommend Ise for sure.Guest review byRizki Dwi KelimutuIndonesia - 10

Tokushima is a nice and vibrant city, that gets the most of its hype during the great Awa Odori Matsuri, held in mid August. If the temperatures are too hot for you, you can still see Awa Odori performances all year around. From Tokushima is also easy to reach Naruto, with its famous whirlpools.Guest review byGiorgio_EItaly
