Service level was top notch and the staff made us feel very well taken care of. Probably the best bean bag pillows I've laid my head on in Japan. Usually I find them uncomfortable, but these were surprisingly good. The toilet was fantastic too.

Location was fantastic and within easy walking distance from the waterfront, the Tori Gate, the temples and the shopping strip. Once the sun goes down, all of the touristy shops close and the island becomes beautifully quiet. Book ahead for restaurants as there are not many open once the tourists go home. The ones that are open are fantastic though! This property is also pet friendly, with supplies provided to help clean up after your pet.

We had an amazing stay here. The location was quiet and well located. Although the hotel is a bit older, it’s extremely well-maintained and full of charm. Our room was beautiful, and the futon beds were much more comfortable than expected. We also loved the comfy yukatas provided. The public bath/onsen was small, but we had it all to ourselves when we went, which made for a peaceful experience. The included dinner and breakfast were fantastic! We requested a vegetarian meal for one of us before arriving, and it was no problem at all - the vegetarian menu was just as varied and delicious as the standard one. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. After check-out, we were able to leave our luggage at the reception for a few hours. When we picked it up, they even offered us a free taxi ride to the ferry terminal.

Amazing view from the room, especially during cherry blossom season. The staff was so forendly and helpful. They picked up our luggage from the coin lockers at the ferry port and drove it back for us after checkout so we could get coffee in town without having to drag our bags around (or up/down the hill to get to the hotel). They have both a private and public onsen. Highly recommended!

Family-owned and operated 4-room ryokan on top of a lunchtime restaurant. Stay included amazing kaiseki dinner of local seasonal ingredients and delicious japanese breakfast (we did not try the continental one). Japanese-style room was of decent size for Japan. Family was very welcoming and helpful. Surroundings and weather turned this great stay into a magical one.

The main reasson to visit was the Itsukushima Shrine but there was plenty of other shrines and temples to visit. The ropeway to Mt, Misen was great. The hike down not so much (not a trail, mainly steps - hard on the knees.

Miyajima was great for walking around and doing the ropeway to the top. A lot of little eateries and street food- good if you like seafood. Scenic with the giant Tori gate and shrines, woods, deer walking around. Miyajima was one of my favorite spots on our trip to Japan.

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.
