- From US$1,492.03 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,335 reviewsA hotel that feels like a 5* resort in a stunning setting. I have loved every single second at Aki Grand Hotel : service was kind and personalised, room was clean, comfortable and with a beautiful view over the sea and the giant tori, dinner and breakfast were very good too. I was impressed by the different onsen in the hotel, but completely mesmerised by the private onsen. I strongly recommend anyone coming to this hotel to book it for a little extra, because it might be one of the highlight of your trip! I had also booked a night cruise, and the boat brings you very close to the tori which I found magical. I didn't use the outdoor pool but it looks fun and was busy yet not too crowded. It opens from mid-July until end of August, until 5pm, no cap needed. The hotel is sophisticated but has a delightful relaxing family feeling so that you directly feel at ease. My only regret was that, due to obon holidays, I couldn't book more than one night. I would 100% come back for longer in a future trip.Guest review byCharlotteChina
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,608 reviewsI arranged a special surprise with the hotel to propose to my girlfriend, initially disguised as a birthday gift with a room upgrade and room service dinner. This review is thus not representative for the room linked to this booking. However, I want to specifically praise the hotel staff, with a specific shout-out to Katagiri. They went above and beyond to make this an unforgettable experience and I cannot thank them enough! The view from the seaside rooms is amazing and the beds are very comfy, the traditional dinner is on point and the staff is just wonderful.Guest review byRob28Belgium
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 331 reviewsEverything, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the location is amazing, a 3 minute walk from the ferry, right on the Main Street. Our hotel room had an incredible view where you could see the floating Torii from the room, and the whole bay. The dinner was supper delicious and the Japanese breakfast too. The outdoor baths (onsen) on the roof was incredible, as you can see the whole bat and the torii. The only shame is we didn’t stay longer.Guest review bySophiaSpain
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,192 reviewsThe Ryokan is very close to the Itsukushima Shrine and the Momijidani Ropeway. So its very convenient to visit the Shrine at 6.30, return for breakfast and then head to the ropeway which begins service by 9.00. The staff were very polite and helpful. The breakfast and dinner were excellent, especially the vegetarian meal. It is a short walk away from the ferry terminal, but the Ryokan offers a shuttle service for pick-up and drop.Guest review byRaviIndia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 442 reviewsAway from the crowds - definitely one of the best hotels of our stay in Japan. The room was spacious and very well equipped. All you need after a great day outside Miayajima is your yukata, your basket full of bath products to chill and relax in the onsen. Amazing japanese breakfast awaits you downstairs in the morning. Bonus : prepare yourself, the onsen is unbelievable!Guest review byChloéFrance

Miyajima was great for walking around and doing the ropeway to the top. A lot of little eateries and street food- good if you like seafood. Scenic with the giant Tori gate and shrines, woods, deer walking around. Miyajima was one of my favorite spots on our trip to Japan.Guest review byMarciaUnited States - 10.0
It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come...
It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.Guest review byDonnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It was my second trip to Miyajima island.
It was my second trip to Miyajima island. The first time I only travelled their with my wife and we did not stay in any accommodation. I left back on the ferry same day feeling that I had to eventually return. I was able to do that and I loved every moment. It's an island I would consider going back too again and staying over again. The island offers so much. For those that want heritage and history, tick. For those that want a close encounter with a deers, tick. For those who love calm beaches or mountains, tick. For those that want experiences with friendly locals, tick. Those wanting to do shopping, especially souveniours, tick. For those who want physical activity, the walking trails up the mountain are a definite tick. I could go on, but, for so many reasons I love and would highly recommend travel to Miyajima.Guest review byAdamAustralia
