- From US$124.65 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 52 reviewsThe location is magical, right near the snow. The owners and staff go above and beyond and took every effort to make sure we were comfortable. This is a traditional type of Japanese snow stay, we had a shared bathroom and toilet. The rooms have western beds. There are not many rooms in the hotel but I felt very comfortable using shared facilities. The rooms are also very large for Japanese standards. If you need a private bathroom the supreme suite offers this, it has a main area with bunks, and a separate bedroom. The shared bathrooms were lovely, and the onsen is very hot and revitalising! This is there perfect spot for a romantic stay or those travelling in a family - it is a quiet place, but kid friendly after a long day on the snow!Guest review byMelissaAustralia
- From US$118.09 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 108 reviewsWhen I arrived at Moomin Papa I immediatly felt home. The place is located in a little Onsen town full of chalets and covered in snow, it’s litterally like in a fairytale. I had a dorm but since the place wasn’t busy I had a room to myself. The room was super cozy and really warm, so really confortable. Contacting the host was super easy through the app, they are quickly replying and are making sure everything is allright, all the time. The onsen was a big plus, I really enjoy relaxing in it after a long day skiing. Also, the breakfast was amazing and when I told them I was vegetarian they adjust the menu for me. I really enjoyed my stay, Moomin and Papa are lovely people. I would come back anytime.Guest review byFrancisCanada
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 39 reviewsBeautiful vibes with owners Kimi and Miyu, with their lovely daughters running amok and bringing cheer everywhere! Rooms were great. Breakfast was just right, decent variety and plentiful, perfect for fuelling before a day out. Really wonderful memories of Japow house, especially while winding down in the evenings with other guests, amidst the open and homely vibe. One thing to note for rental cars - make sure you get a 4wd, else when the snow picks up, you have to park at the post office carpark some ways out nearer the main town strip.Guest review byJING HONGSingapore
- From US$239.72 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 476 reviewsWe loved the traditional Japanese rooms. it was spacious and clean and the large window that overlooked the mountains was the best! The room was kept very clean and warm, and I absolutely loved the hot water and tea corner that was a life saver! They even had a shuttle bus from the nearest station so that made the journey effortless and smooth. The buffet breakfast had a huge selection, both traditional and western options too! We also made use of the Ski rental shop which was mighty convenient!Guest review byArianneJapan
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 112 reviewsThe place was exceptional with friendly staff and services. The room and onsen were both well facilitated and clean. We were staying here for six nights and they prepared us different Japanese style dinners on every night, which were all amazingly good. The buffet breakfast was nice with good variety as well. We have had a great time here and skiing in Myoko.Guest review byYAUHong Kong
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 71 reviewsVery cool, retro vibe in the lodge. The staff are fantastic, the food was delicious, the room was very comfortable, & the onsen facilities were very nice. The outdoor bath is on the colder side, but the inside bath is nice & warm, so there is a nice difference between the two to try out.Guest review byKarlIreland

Myoko is an incredible region of fun, the mountains offer heaps of ski resorts with fantastic runs, lessons, places to dine and sit with a hot beverage or refreshen beer or sake. Its wonderful for both families and those who are daring to hit the slopes for thrills. The hotel shuttles, local buses and taxis make travel from resort to various slopes, very easy. The locals are exceptionally helpful and friendly.Guest review byBec DoyleAustralia - 10.0
The snow in Myoko is otherworldly.
The snow in Myoko is otherworldly. The powder is unimaginably great and really loved visiting Seki Onsen Ski Area. It's a small, family-owned ski area run by the Inoue Family who are the kindest and most hospitable people you'll find anywhere in Japan. Family-owned and run ski areas are in decline with large corporations buying up ski areas across Japan, so it was a real treat to ski at an area where the snow was perfect and you're supporting a local business. 10 our 10 for Seki Onsen Ski Area!Guest review byAaronUnited States - 10.0
Ski areas vary considerably in the area.
Ski areas vary considerably in the area. Akakura Onsen has absolutely the worst lifts i have experienced in Japan. When they weren't broken down they were extremely slow. On the other hand Suginohara has a new gondola and modern 'high' speed lifts. This was the pick of the mountains to ski for me.Guest review byAnonymous
