Absolutely fantastic. Rooms are huge and clean with all equipment to cook if wanted. Felt like a local living in Japan as the place was spacious and very cozy. Everything was perfect for us: Location: conveniently close to the Kawazu station (15 mins by walk), hotel provides shuttle services for pick-up and drop-off Amenities: Spacious room with balcony and sea view. All the required amenities present inside the room. One of the best hotels we have stayed in Japan. Hotel also has a pool which is open from July to September and cleanly maintained. Beach access: Imaihama beach is just at the backside of the hotel with very clean black sand beach and perfect waves. Hot spring was cherry on the cake, separate ones for men and women with all the required facilities inside. Hotel also has 2 restaurants one Japanese and other one French serving breakfast, lunch and dinner (we didn’t try though). Also, it has got library, kids play room etc. Overall perfect hotel.

Everything was exceptional. The traditional building was beautifully maintained and every corner was photo worthy. The staff were friendly and took very good care of us. Our room was beautiful and spacious, we had a wooden tub in our bathroom to soak in and amazing garden views from the windows. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Onsens were wonderful and each one had its own charm and feel. The place is a short walk from the bus stop and next to the bridges and bamboo grove, allowing easy access in the evening. The stay at this ryokan was definitely a highlight of our Japan trip and we’d love to stay here again.

The Ocean front view and the hotspring were fantastic and unforgettable. Waking up with the peaceful view of sunrise over the ocean through the bedroom window was the BEST! The Breakfast was to die for, so many options and everything was delicious, including fresh fruits & salad. Can’t beat the experience and value. Wish we had more time to enjoy the Resort and beautiful private beach! Staff was most helpful and courteous!

The room was very clean, the beds are super comfy and they have prepared 3 different kinds of pillows ( 1 hard pillow, 1 feather soft pillow and 1 throw pillow) for each bed which made my sleep very comfortable and relaxing since I am used to sleep using 2 pillows. Enjoyed our side trip to inuyama castle - easy to get to by local train. Also a good trip to Atsuta Jingu Shrine. If you take a train on the Meitetsu Nagoya main line and get off at Jingumae station, an entrance to the shrine is just across the road from the station. (Main road, but there are pedestrian crossings). Didn't leave much time to explore Nagoya itself. Did get to Osu mall, which was quite interesting, but a little over-hyped we thought. Area round station itself was good compared with many cities - much more salubrious and more like being in a reasonably upmarket commercial/shopping area. Could certainly have happily spent another full day in Nagoya if our schedule had allowed.

The town is small, without any striking landmarks, but many old houses have been preserved. The town's residents have long been engaged in carpentry. There are good porcelain shops. The surrounding area is full of fascinating sights, including the village of Shirakawago and the mountains with their hot springs. I recommend eating in Suzuya - It's popular, so you need to arrive a few minutes before they open. I recommend drinking morning coffee in Sanu coffee stand. There is truly good European coffee here

Shizuoka is a hidden gem.

Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.

Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us.

Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us. Easy to get to from Osaka. Stayed in a traditional ryokan (tattoo friendly). Spent the day walking along the harbour to the ropeway up to Atami castle which had several different art displays and museums including an adults only one and a great view of the coast. Away from the beach things were pretty steep so a car might have been a sensible option

Hamamatsu is a small industrial city located about halfway...

Hamamatsu is a small industrial city located about halfway between Kyoto and Tokyo. It has a number of industrial tourism sites - Suzuki Plaza, esp., and music-related sites - Yamaha Innovation Road and the Musical Instrument Museum. There are a number of Jazz- and Classical-music festivals in the fall, and that is a good time to visit. Lake Hamana is beautiful, and there are a number of interesting temples, shrines, and historical sites like the small but beautiful Hamamatsu Castle. Mostly ignored by Western tourists, but easy to get around, it's charm is in one's ability to visit Japan as it is for those who live there.

I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen.

I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen. The fare is ¥5900 one way and travel time is nearly an hour. I stayed at Toyoko Inn which is 150 meters from the Shin Fuji station. There are lots of car rentals in the area but I was not able to get one as they only accept advance booking from their website. It took me 2 hours getting to and from the foot of Mt. Fuji, by bus and a 15 minute walk in the village to reach my destinations. Roads are quite narrow but they are common in Japan. Like most countryside places in Japan, Fuji is relatively clean, rich in nature, and lots of places to explore. My advice if you want to visit Fuji: 1. Travel by Shinkansen going to and from Fuji. 2. Rent a car so you can visit most of the attractions in and around Mt. Fuji. 3. Spend at leat 3-4 days in the area. 4. Bring cash with you always as most establishments are cash based. 5. Download Papago app on your phone so you can translate Japanese images, signs, etc if you're having difficulty understanding the language. That's it and enjoy your trip to Mt. Fuji.

Everything about Gotemba is excellent and magical.

Everything about Gotemba is excellent and magical. Gotemba is one of the most significant epicenters for adventure and sightseeing in all of Japan. It is of course an exceptional gateway to hiking and adventuring on Mount Fuji using the Gotemba, Subashiri and Fujinomiya 5th Station traiheads. Hakone-Yumoto onsens/spas and Lake Ashi are also right in the area. Free shuttle buses offer a 20 minute ride straight to the Famous Gotemba Outlets if shopping for 15 hours is what you are in the mood for. Don't forget Odawara Castle just down the way or Fuji-Q and the Fuji Speedway just up the way, to name a few. Gotemba ROCKS! Mount Fuji and the Osunabashiri descending trail are really the #1 world class attraction among many. Furthermore, all the special local people who support all the vast Gotemba opportunities are the best and truly loved.

The room was basic but clean and comfortable with good shower, all that we needed for a good night sleep. There were free coffee and tea provided at the reception area as in other hotels. Only a 5 minutes walk from the hotel to the Terminal 1 departure hall was incredible, can't think of a better option than staying here. Breakfast starts at 6am which is earlier than the few hotels we have stayed during the trip.

The 8km trail from Magome was great and there were buses going from the station to take you to the start of that short trail. On the return you could either walk to the train station a short walk from Tsumago or catch a bus back to Magome then another back to Nakatsugawa station. Lots of options and times. A beautiful and picturesque walk.
