Definitely do the tour of Fort Jesus and hire a local, official guide. Be prepared that this is a largely Islamic culture. Gentlemen covering knees and women covering shoulders is a thing. Lamu is the real Swahili Coast. The atmosphère is authentic. With everyone on foot because there are no cars the sense of community is very strong. Architectural style of the village has been well maintained. There are good local eateries, and the peponi restaurant in Shella village is outstanding. We went everywhere by water taxi. The apartment is very pretty and the terrace on the creek offers beautiful vieux. In the morning many monkeys come to say "hi" : it's very funny indeed. If you like to walk...it needs only 10 minutes to go in town. It is not a place for a holiday, I was there to check on some of my Property but I was frustrated because I ended up staying for more Days than I had wanted. It is loud and congested.but if one has his own home is Ok but there are other nice places to enjoy and have fun It easy to get round Mtwapa, by Tax Tuk tuk and motor Bikes and public means of transport called Matatus.Guest review byRose - 10

Nyali has got all the beauties everyone imagines. Though the property I stayed in was not good due to lack of information while choosing, Nyali hosts all the epic places any person feels so excited. Am really amazed with Mombasa in general and Nyali in particular. Crime rate feels zero level. People are very supportive and amazing. Mombasa/ Nyali has been beyond my expectation! I enjoyed it!
