You feel luxurious as soon as you enter in, where the staff welcomes you to light up the oil to feel at home. The hotel has also kept the nature around, building houses around trees and including them in the design. There is even a bathtub facing the lake of Giritale and you can enjoy a bath with an incredible view. The staff is super helpful and the food was delicious! Half a day was enough as the sun was out and draining. At the last stop in Polonnaruwa where you have the temple there was a young man sketching and painting. Amazing, smaller national park. More of a wild, intimate experience than it's massively over subscribed cousins. It has so many ruins and monuments to view, and especially marvel at the stone crafting abilities of ancient Sri Lankans who have created so many buddhist states and artistic monuments by using rocks.
