definitely our favorite hotel in the Maldives, everything was just perfect from staff to rooms to service to food and activities. They even planned out an amazing birthday for me with activities they have never done before like a beach picnic on a sandbank and a romantic dinner at the beach. Definitely a hotel I would recommend and come back to!!

Room is very clean. Tea and coffee available 24 hours. An Unforgettable Solo Birthday in Paradise! I visited Veligandu as a solo traveler for my birthday, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived, I never once felt alone. The staff made me feel like I was among friends – they were incredibly kind and treated me with such warmth and care that I felt extra special throughout my stay. It truly felt like I had a second family there. The daily itineraries were packed with exciting activities – I had the chance to go snorkeling, join a dolphin cruise, and more. Every day brought something new, and I loved being able to choose how I spent my time. The dining options were plentiful, and every meal was delicious. A highlight for me was the teppanyaki restaurant – the Teperniak Chef MrZ Francis was amazing! Because it was my birthday, they even put on a whole show for me, making the experience unforgettable. Evenings were just as lively as the days. There was always something happening – one night it was jazz, and another night was 80s disco, which was by far my favorite! The entertainment and atmosphere were perfect. The food was exceptional at all times – from the breakfast selection to lunch, dinner, and even the snacks by the beach. I savored every bite and truly enjoyed every second of my stay. Initially, I booked for three nights thinking I might get bored, but by the end, I wished I had stayed for a week! I also want to give a special shoutout to the diving team. Miss Sarah, Mr. Misbah, and the absolute star, Julia, took care of me from start to finish. Julia, in particular, was incredibly comforting and made sure I felt at ease all day. I wholeheartedly recommend Veligandu – not just for the breathtaking location but for the people who make it truly special. This will not be my last visit! I can’t wait to return with my loved ones to share this magical place with them. Thank you for making my birthday unforgettable!

Advice for those who’s coming : bring your own water bottle, or you need to pay $19 to buy one. Everything was amazing! This is our first stay in Maldives and we definitely want to come back! The room was very clean and beautiful. Staffs would come to clean our room twice a day!! Food is a variety of international buffet three meals a day and very delicious. The house reef in front of our room is beyond expectation. We snorkel everyday (4 days) and found this huge school of fishes just right in front of our room (around snorkel station no.7, image attached), we even saw reef sharks and sting ray just by snorkeling! Scuba diving here was also spectacular. Madivaru is very beautiful and indeed a famous dive site. Staffs of the diving center was very accommodating and took care of us very well. This resort is self-sustainable and still very rich in nature. We happily pay environmental taxes if the resort would keep up to this high level of environmental preservation.

This is our third vacation in the Maldives and we chose Lily, this reaort has raised the bar for Maldives resorts, it is exceptional! Choose All inclusive package and enjoy the whole island. Over water villa was super beautiful and spacious. Swimming in the sea is incredibly beautiful there are many fish and coral life and the water is crystal clear! All restaurants are great and has tasty food also bars. Kids club has wide range of activities and kids can stay in the club without their parents. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Jaleel in Lily Maa Restaurant.

Staff were good, nice view, i like the activity there, you can request a jet ski and other sea activities but a little expensive, you can go to another local island but its more expensive 40$++ each person and its not worth it tbh because it is quite no activities and only three shops. An amazing snorkelling beach -no boats or travel required -just thousands of colourful fish and turtles, perfect white sand and palm trees. The concession stand sold delicious, fresh-picked fruit-watermelon, papaya, bananas. We loved the Coccoa beach restaurant and the Black Anchor and the Mango House had fabulous lattes and desserts.

The most beautiful sea I have ever seen in my entire life.

The most beautiful sea I have ever seen in my entire life. And mind you, I have visited many seas in many countries! For food, I recommend the restaurant at the Dhiguveli hotel and the Teapot restaurant. Getting around the island is very easy; you can reach any place quickly on foot. Don't miss going to the sandbank at one of the ends of the island.

I didn't like that the island lost most of it's green and I didn't see the wild nature I prefer. There was a lot of construction going on the moment I was there, I felt discomfort because of that. And maybe in 1-2 years it's going to be over I think. But on the other hand there's just amazing diving on the house reef and nearby reefs. There's a lot of nice restaurants and there was no day I felt bored.

It is a small enough island to walk around.

It is a small enough island to walk around. The locals are extremely friendly - always saying hello. There are 3 restaurants all along the west coast. Compass seems most popular. But all are good with same offering of food. There is a fair amount of building going on at the moment as they gear up for more tourists. We used South Ari Dive for our diving trips. They are professional and friendly.

It was not my first time in Maldives and my experience there was disappointing compared to my previous trips in other resorts. The quality of service is poor and it’s a shame because the resort is lovely and the staff are nice but lack professionalism.

We enjoyed 7 days on the island. The rooms are very clean. The food is AMAZING! Everyone from staff are kind. The resort is sustainable, they try very hard to recycle and repurpose almost everything which is really nice. All inclusive is the smarter choice, trust me😄 The snorkeling is really fun! The whole island stands on coral reef and there is a lot to see! Maybe bring your own equipment, although you can rent. I don’t recommend the visit to the local island, nothing to see there We absolutely recommend

You need maximum 3 days to complete all trips, any more than...

You need maximum 3 days to complete all trips, any more than that would have to be someone who loves water sports as these are the main activities in this country, anyways. Bring a mosquito or any insect repellent, you will need these after a stroll on the shores or anywhere there are plants. Also have an anti-nausea pill if you are the seasick type. Taxis have a fixed price for each location, check that out. Alcohol in the resorts is expensive but then again that's all you got. Best to pay all meals or include dinner in your package as there are almost no restaurants outside, depending on the island, and if you find one it's either a chips or coffee spots.

A Wonderful Beach Holiday.

A Wonderful Beach Holiday. Necessary structure: shops and cafes are available. The ability to pay with a bank card, as well as in cash (USD, MVR). Good exchange rate in all places. I was pleased with both Mathiveri and Mathiveri Finholu: the beaches are clean, the sand does not burn your feet, and there is a comfortable "coolness" in the shade of the trees.

"The beaches at the island are absolutely beautiful, with stunning shorelines on both sides. The jetty area offers a fantastic viewpoint for spotting nurse sharks, and the island is ideal for snorkeling with vibrant marine life. It's conveniently located not too far from Male' city, and nearby sandbanks add to the charm. The island also offers exciting excursions and diving trips, making it a perfect destination for adventure and relaxation.
