Our second time visiting and still a favourite. Especially to comfortable rooms and quietness. Staff very friendly. The sunset boat cruise is a MUST with Marshal doing a great job. He could answer ALL our questions and made the stay more memorable

The layout, the gardens, the view from the deck was amazing. Great place to unwind & relax. Staff were super friendly & really went out of their way to make our stay special. We went out fishing twice and really enjoyed being on the Zambezi river amongst the hippos and crocodiles - got to catch a couple of small tiger fish too. The bird life was exceptional. We truly got to switch off from work - the internet was available by the reception but with local SIM cards we were fine around the property.
And the good news is they have starlink getting installed shortly for those that can’t be away from wifi.

This was our third visit to Shametu and it did not disappoint! We have camped before in the fantastic campsites but this time opted for a tented chalet on the river. Beautiful spacious accommodation with the HUGE bonus of zircon. We stayed on a half board basis and the food was very good. Great choice of wines too! We took one of our breakfasts on the river at a small extra charge. Well worth it! Tranquil with sightings of hippo, crocodile and a myriad of birds all pointed out to us by our excellent guide.
An excellent hotel with polite and helpful staff. Especially I want to mention Rector who was an excellent driver. We had three game drives with him and were the best we had so far. We saw wild dogs in action which is rare, a leopard etc. I want to thank him for everything. The room was big and very clean as was all the premises of the hotel. Both breakfast and dinner very fresh, good and tasty. There was parking in the premises. The swimming pool was very good.
Successful stay! The welcome by the owners was warm and professional! The staff is very very friendly, competent and helpful. Breakfast leaves nothing to be desired. The food in the restaurant is very very good! Our compliments to the chef who cooked us a very delicious 3-course menu that evening! The rooms are very clean, the staff does a great job here too. Internet is fast and stable. Air conditioning in the room and clean an well maintained.
The hosts, Hennie and Veronika, were super friendly. Everything went very well, they organised a boat tour on the Kwando for us and it was fantastic, we saw many birds, hippos and other wildlife! The food was great and the rooms were comfortable. The location is also very good and the view is truly magnificent!
I highly recommend this place!
Fabulous, friendly and efficient staff, especially our guides Robert and Nicholas who were very knowledgeable regarding the wildlife, boat handling and fishing. The food was first class and the river location very private and special.

The location on the water is great and the boat trip on the river with Kennedy was very nice. The bar and deck has lovely views and the plunge pool is very welcome in that heat. The tents were not great and the shower was horrible.

Magnificent place. Lot of things to see in town. People are very friendly and helpful. Wish to visit again but you need your own car to move around. For westerners everything is available but still one sees real Africa.

Kongola itself is quite small.
Kongola itself is quite small. However, river cruises are on offer, with fantastic animal and bird sightings, as well as magnificent sunsets on the Kwando river.
Another advantage is the Mudumu National Park, with an abundance of wildlife and birds,
