- From US$1,059.14 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 73 reviewsI don’t know where to start it was just amazing beeing welcomed to this place. Our room was beyond beautiful with an outdoor bed (they‘ll arrange sheets and everything if you tell the reception) a second terrace with sunloungers, outdoorshower and another balcony right in front of your bed. Interior is very spacious with gorgeous big windows, a big comfortable bed, lounge area with the most amazing view and a very big bathroom. Minibar and coffeestation are filled up so you can enjoy a drink right when you arrive. We had Zebras right in front of the lodge when we arrived. For sundowner you can choose to visit the upper deck (up a small hill), they‘ll arrange the drink you told them in advance and also very good tapas. Thanks a lot to Willie and the second waiter for arranging our drinks last minute and for racing up the hill with them and our tapas. :) After that head right to dinner, honestly the best dinner we had during our whole holiday. The steak was amazing, the starter and the amuse guele, the soup and the dessert. Lastly the whole staff really cares and seems to really enjoy beeing there and working together you can really feel the team spirit. Its about 40min drive to Sesriem Gate (they provide early breakfast with you want to leave before sunrise) for us that was totally fine. We arrived at the gate for sunrise and at Sossusvlei in time to walk up Big Daddy before the heat. Scenery and light is amazing at this time of the day. After running down the hill to Deadvlei we drove back to the Lodge to enjoy a beautiful afternoon and evening. Only downside that we just stayed 2 nights and couldn’t enjoy a whole day at the lodge. We‘ll come back, thanks again.Guest review byMichaelaAustria
- From US$156.02 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 624 reviewsSolitaire is a space with a very unique energy. We loved stepping into a film and having the feeling of going back in time. Our room was excellent, the bed was super comfortable and everything was clean. The dining room was very welcoming, the food is prepared with great care and the portions are generous! Breakfast is buffet and very tasty too. The staff is wonderful, this was our first night after arriving in Namibia and feeling at home in such a remote place is priceless. They were always smiling and asking if everything was ok and seemed genuinely concerned about our well-being. A special thank you to Smiley, a promising young boy, with a wide smile capable of enchanting us with his way of talking. Thank you all ❤️ Oh and please try the apple pie from the bakery next door, it is as famous as it is delicious! :)Guest review byMario and CatiaPortugal
- From US$383.38 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 294 reviewsThe location was wonderful. All rooms have an unobstructed view to the beautiful landscape. The common areas are spacious and beautiful and perfect for relaxation. The staff was tremendous. The food was top notch. We booked a guided Sossusvlei tour, and we felt incredibly lucky to have such a knowledgeable and service minded guide as Natangwe. He really made our experience mind blowing and fun. We considered doing a self drive, but are glad we decided to go on a guided tour. I went for a sunset horse ride as a total beginner. Thanks to the great horse trainer and TK who arranged the sunset experience (and the fact that I was the only one attending) this became another highlight of the stay. It is about 30 minutes from the gate. This turned out to be no problem at all.Guest review byHelgeNorway
- From US$391.50 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,310 reviewsAn absolutely stunning location! Right next to the park gates to visit Sossusvlei and the other dunes. Comfortable, spacious rooms. Great shower. Lovely pool which I had to myself for about an hour! The view from outside the bar/restaurant looking towards the waterhole was amazing- watching oryx, springbok, jackal, ostrich etc with a glass of wine in hand! Wonderful, varied buffet breakfast and dinner.. So much choice! And we are vegetarian but still plenty for us. Easy check in and out. I would have liked to stay longer.Guest review byharrietUnited Kingdom
- From US$240.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 118 reviewsAbsolutely beautiful location with our rooms, pool and breakfast having fantastic views over the desert. The photos don’t do it justice. Everyone was so welcoming and the location was great to drive from Windhoek and close enough to get up early and head to Sousselvlei for a sunrise walk. Amazing stars at night and a lovely 4 course meal for supper. Thank you for our lovely stay.Guest review byEmilyUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 90 reviewsVery nice and quiet lodge in the middle of the desert, yet not that far away from the main road and Sossusvlei/Deadvlei that it was a pain to get there. The lodge has a lovely staff that took care of us in an excellent way. Also the day tour they provide is very much worth it. They provide spacious, clean lodges with warm showers. Also the food was great.Guest review byJasperNetherlands

What a beautiful place my goodness.
What a beautiful place my goodness. So much to do in the area - we would have definitely stayed longer to try out the different activities. Climbing the dunes at Sossusvlei was honestly the best day. It was beautiful and I can’t wait to be back!Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

We stayed in this location mainly to visit Sossusvlei which is further south. Solitaire itself is a charming but tiny settlement - only a few buildings and a petrol station, however it has an amazing cafe serving "the world's best apple pie" and it was! Solitaire is about a 20 minute drive from Soft Adventure Camp at the Namib Naukluft Lodge.Guest review byJulietAustralia - 8.0

It was busy but still private enough not to spoil the overnight stay. The staff were very helpful in the shop. It was useful to have the fuel station as well. The supplies in the shop were adequate for the overnight stay and the location was convenient for Sossusvlei. The drive into Sossusvlei was fine but very crowded when we got to Deadvlei. Well worth a visit though.Guest review byFionaZimbabwe - 10.0

We stayed at the Desert Camp, not far from the park entrance...
We stayed at the Desert Camp, not far from the park entrance gate. It was an easy drive to the park, and the 60km of wonderful tarred road to the 2 wheel drive car park. This gives access to Dig Daddy dune and Deadvlei. From here the park vehicle took us to Big Momma dune, and also goes to Hidden Vlei. All very easy. Dune 45 is 45 km along the road. The bus cost 180 Namibian dollars in October 2023. Wear runners to climb the dunes and walk to Deadvlei. Har, sunglasses and water are essential. We ate at the restaurant inside the park gate. Good and affordable. We bought our water at the shop there. Breakfast at the Sossusvlei Lodge was good too. I would recommend paying extra for tyre and glass insurance when picking up your rental car. Prior to coming to Sesriem, we had a flat tyre far from anywhere and Hertz directed us to a lodge with tyre repair services. We had to go on to Outjo to get the fixed tyre replaced, but the insurance made it less of a concern.Guest review byStevenIreland - 10.0
