South AfricaThis is great stay specially with kids. It's got a games room and two swimming pools overlooking the front beach. The Restaurants, shops and peer is with in walking distance. A big up for housekeeping and the beds are a bliss to sleep on. I love the fact that our room has a communal basin (kitchen and bathroom Basin) outside the bathroom and that the toilette is separate from our bathroom which incl a shower and a bath. Reception and night staff is always available and very helpful will surely visit again when exploring the Bay of Islands.

AustriaWe had a wonderful stay! The instructions to the house were great, and made it easy to find the house. The room and bathroom were great, the bed was super comfy. We spent the evening chatting with the owners and other guest at their lovely fireplace. The next morning, breakfast was a feast, and we also got to see a glimpse of the wonderful property. Overall, we cannot recommend this place more, if you are exploring this region!
The only thing we didn't like was that we had only one night to spend here, which was driven by our own schedule.
Thank you again for the wonderful stay!

As soon as we arrived the owners welcomed us down to our room and went through everything in the property and also supplied fruit, yoghurt, fresh bread and home made muesli. We were also upgraded to a gorgeous 2 bedroom with a an amazing garden view. Everything was so nice and clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. We were walking distance or a short drive into town. Anna & Murray also supplied us with a book of everything to do in kerikeri / bay of islands (activities and restaurants). The apartment is very modern and fully equipped with everything you need during your holiday: it has a great, comfy double bed, super and very clean bathroom with separate toilet and a fantastic terrace with a stunning view to the bay. The closest beach is approx. 5 min walk, Paihia center is a bit longer walk but still manageable without car. This last minute get away was one of our best short trips yet. We stayed at the Avalon Resort, which is one of my favourite places we have ever stayed. I could have stayed for much longer. It just has the best vibe. down to the amazing host, Location and the rooms are just beautiful, (all have your own private decks) check in simple & easy. Makes you feel at home. We also enjoyed the Horse Trek at the DriftWood Seaside Escapes the next morning, about 40 minutes from the town centre. Milli is just amazing catered to my 2 young children and made us all feel so comfortable. the location of the Trek is just an amazing bonus. also the friendly dogs who come along for the Trek. The views are breath taking and Milli and her team are just the best! Our little stay in KeriKeri has to be the best short trips we have taken for a long time. we can't wait to come back. if your looking for a affordable Resort Bali vibe stay with your children or some alone time this is absolutely the place to stay. If you want to do something a little different check out Driftwood Seaside escapes and go see Milli for an exciting Horse Trek Through the Forest, down to the beach and through beautiful bush.Guest review byAnyaNew Zealand - 8.0
NZ's first European settlement and seaport so full of...
NZ's first European settlement and seaport so full of history and beautifully kept old buildings including a church still with bullet holes from times gone by. Lots of lovely bays (Helena, Teal, Oakura, Tapeka) and beaches within easy travelling distance but the closest with great swiming is Long Bay beach a few minutes over the hill from Russell. Great coffee can be had there too! If you want to do day trips, take your car on the car ferry at Okiato to Opua and head north to Paihia, Waitangi, and Kerikeri - all close by. Further north there is Mangonui, Cable Bay and Doubtless bay all overlooking the water and rather beautiful as is all the area. Russell has some great restaurants, cafes, supermarket for food and the usual tourist type shops plus you can catch the passenger ferry to Paihia for a few hours to check out their cafes too. We stayed 4 days and having our own car, found plenty to do while out exploring and sight seeing.Guest review byIbhappiNew Zealand - 10.0
I would highly recommend staying at Waters Edge.
I would highly recommend staying at Waters Edge. It was amazing to wake up each day to the view of the water and the sound of the birds. The home is a short walk along the track to Opua marina area. I believe that you can also walk the same track to Paihia although we ran out of time to do this. A close car ride to Paihia. This was a lovely place to stay.
This was a lovely place to stay. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and everything we needed was provided. It was a real treat to stay here. We visited the Treaty Grounds, just down the road for a cultural and historical education. We hiked to waterfalls and mangrove forests. We decided to stay seven nights in Kerikeri and use this as our base to explore further North and East. This was the smart thing to do, because being at the tail end of Winter entering Spring, the weather fluctuates a lot. We timed being able to visit places when the weather was fine, and the bonus was there were hardly any tourists. Do yourself a favour and stay for a few days at this wonderful place. There are so many walks, and lots of beautiful spots to explore. It would be a shame to limit yourself to the main street. The museum and the French Printery are certainly worth a visit, as is getting up to the top of Flagstaff Hill and having a coffee from the van on Long Beach. Paihia is absolutely stunning. I visited most recently in Winter and loved taking the kids over to Russell to see some true NZ history. But the first time I visited was Summer and that is when you should definitely visit. Its out of this world. Great food outlets, pubs, walks and views.
