- From US$95.94 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 552 reviewsThe motel/lodge is very well situated, directly on the road to Turoa, and close to nice bars and restaurants. We had a late check in (11:30pm), and the team was ver accomodating, leaving the room open with keys inside, and clear instructions to go to the room. We had a appartment with 2 rooms (6 beds in total). We were positively surprised by the quality of the place, with good beds (a bit too soft for one of them, but no complains for the others), and quite a lot of space. The kitchen was well equiped too. We only stayed 2 nights, but it would be a great place for a week.Guest review byThomasFrance
- From US$57.70 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.4Good - What previous guests thought, 1,226 reviewsIt was raining when I arrived. I got out of the car to beautiful music playing outside which flowed inside. Such a lovely welcome coming in from the cold. My ensuite room was very tidy, clean and warm and bed / pillows were comfy. Loved the night lights down hallway, creating a warm atmosphere. The host was lovely too sorry I did not get your name.Guest review byLauraNew Zealand

Really lovely township to stay out for visits to Mount Ruapehu - great selection of food venues (both takeaway like La Pizzeria or dine in like Cypress Tree). Carrot Land adventure park is a great visit for little kids.Guest review byMarieNew Zealand - 6.0

went on the forgotten highway rail trail adventure trip, which was awesome, all their staff are great, a fascinating trip. Taumaranui itself is a bit grotty, but have a great Thai restaurant and good golf course.Guest review byRobbie DonmallNew Zealand - 4.0

The empty Chateau is a shame but we hope that will be sorted soon. The neglected buildings in the village on both sides of Bruce Road is not a good look. Hopefully they will be restored and have tenants soon. We understand Covid and the uncertainly around the sale of the ski field had a big influence but we hope that it would be fixed soonGuest review byTredouxMNew Zealand - 10.0

My baby and I stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed everything about Waiouru. We were at the Oasis motel which is across the road from the Z gas station and next to a Diner, bakery, bar & bottle store which breaks off from the motel but still far away from the rooms. A bit secluded but love how everything’s so close and the nice cold weather.Guest review byShaniquaNew Zealand - 10.0
National Park walks were stunning and the area truly...
National Park walks were stunning and the area truly deserves its World Heritage status. You could choose the difficulty and timing of your hikes. Easy to find your way round. Use some sandfly repellent and soother on hikes as you might be bitten. The bites are not pleasant and take a few days to stop itching. We had great accomodation which allowed us to self-cater- so no restaurant reviews.Guest review byAnonymousAustralia - 8.0

Roomy, relaxing, peaceful, clean - had most of what we needed. A few basic things missing that would have been appreciated - salt, soap, dishcloth, lock on bathroom door, working oven/grill. But over-all we enjoyed the stay and it met our needs for a 2 night stayGuest review bySaraNew Zealand - 6.0
Great overnight stop off before doing the Timber Trail bike...
Great overnight stop off before doing the Timber Trail bike ride. Very close to shuttle pick up and end of trail. Nothing else there, no cafes, shops etc. Nearest small town with food options 20 mins drive away each wayGuest review byElizabethAustralia - 10.0
It was a great experience.
It was a great experience. Mountain was warmer up the to & colder at the bottom. It's wise to go up the gondola ride see the mountain close up front. There is snow field up the top for seating & restaurant. National park is just mesmerising very iconic. Worth visiting. I would go again next time for the crossing.Guest review byShamshad BegumNew Zealand - 10.0

Ohakune is a town still recovering from COVID and some not so good ski seasons, but it is beautiful and well worth the visit. Apart from skiing and snowboarding, the mountain is a beautiful place to hike, mountain bike, or just visit for the view. Ohakune is small and easy to get around, with great cafes and restaurants. The ski shops are fantastic with really helpful staff (TCB is amazing).Guest review byKateNew Zealand
