Richar and his family are so warm and welcoming. They told us about life on the island and showed us where we could go for the most beautiful walks. Food was great and bed was comfortable and warm with view over the lake and sunrise. We stayed two nights and I highly recommend this!

Our stay on Amantani Island was one of the most memorable experiences of our travels in Peru. We were warmly welcomed by Josè Luis, who made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Pilar, the wife, is an incredible cook—every meal she prepared was delicious, fresh, and made with so much love. Sharing meals with the family and enjoying their traditional dishes was one of the highlights of our stay. The family’s kindness and hospitality were unmatched. They shared stories about their life on the island and taught us about their customs, making our visit both enriching and heartwarming. Despite the simplicity of life on Amantani, their warmth and generosity made us feel like we had everything we needed. If you’re visiting Puno and looking for an authentic, cultural experience, I highly recommend staying with a local family on Amantani Island. The best thing about our stay were the hosts, kind, friendly, willing to have long conversations with us despite our average levels of Spanish! They went irbid their way to make us feel really comfortable, the whole family were fantastic, they would make sure that we were heading in the right direction by sending a family member with us part of the way when we went to walk to the Pacha Mama and Pacha Tata. Mari Luz even walked us to the harbour on the day of our departure.

Sophia's house is located very close to Amantani's main square. The rooms overlook a patio and, most importantly, the lake view is heavenly. The accommodation is located in the community on the opposite side respect where the boat from Puno arrives. That's permitted to be the only tourist in this side of the island during our stay. You have to consider 20 soles per person to reach the accommodation from the pier with a motorbike. Otherwise you need at least 1 hour and 30 minute of walk. The host family is amazing, Justa prepared delicious meals and joined us for a while for the walking up to pacha mama on the top of the island. Amantanì is magic, it is a rural island surrounded by the lake. Stunning scenario where to relax and take great pictures. The night sky from the house is unforgettable.

Authentic, unique homestay experience. Shower is topped up by Ernesto with water from the spring, warmed by the sun. Immaculate toilets with chamber pots for emergencies! Immerse yourself in Amantani life. Diego was on hand as a tour guide, and with heaps of knowledge, he showed us Amantani. Ilda, his sister, and mum Juana delivered amazing local food, dish after dish of local food. With comfy beds topped with llama blankets, we had an exceptional stay. From sharing English phrases for Quechua with Ernesto to drinking local tea, watching the sunsets, to hiking the local trails, I can not recommend enough.
