You will have to learn how to "use" Albufeira in order to have a good time here (if you are over 30)! The town is catering to the very young, primarily UK crowd, that are heavy drinkers in cheap and less then average bars (with excessively loud bad music). Stay away from the 'main' areas and you will be able to find good restaurants where you can have a relaxing meal. I was not able to locate any cocktail lounges that would have had available a good mixed drink and some background music. Sort of like a small version of Times Square in NYC, you can get ripped off very easily if you do not conduct due diligence. Aljezur is a great location to visit if you like nature, surfing, good food, a slower pace of life. I would recommend staying in Aljezur, getting a car to drive around to different beaches and villages where you can find good restaurants. Amazing place lots of restaurants and bars but it is all spaced out if you have good legs this is no problem. Of course you can hire a car and drive out at night but if you want to drink you need to walk as we didn't see 1 taxi on our 9 night stay. Find accommodation near to Mareta beach as that's about central. Very young area lots of fit surfing people day and night which is great. There are 3 beaches within walking distance Tonel is the one for surfing if you can do!! Mareta beach is the nicest of the 3. There are many more you can drive to. The fort is interesting. A quiet and pretty small village that remains authentic.
A quiet and pretty small village that remains authentic. A great place for a short visit if you like to avoid the crowds or to look for accomodation if you plan to explore the gorgeous 'vicentina' coast, with car access to many great beaches. Most of these beaches are likely to be too 'wild' for most people, with difficult access, but they are perfect for the more adventurers and, again, for those who prefer to avoid the crowds. Plus, there are a few places in the village centre where you can enjoy a really tasteful light meal, of which I'd definitely reccommend the restaurants 'Ao Largo' and 'Casa Verde'.Guest review byTiagoPortugal - 10.0

A peaceful town with a relaxed atmosphere, yet still lively with shops and a beautiful coastline. There are plenty of nice restaurants and opportunities to enjoy nature.
