An amazing hotel. It truly has everything you could want, with a fresh, young, modern, and tech-savvy vibe where you can tell every detail was carefully planned. The facilities are top-notch: meeting rooms, work spaces, gym, laundry and ironing room, and much more. The rooftop is incredible, with a pool, bar, and fantastic atmosphere. The room is spacious, comfortable, clean, and has everything you need. And most importantly—the location. Simply the best location in Porto. The breakfast is truly wonderful.

The hotel common areas and the hotel rooms were stylish, attractive, and very comfortable. The rooms were especially spacious. The parking was easy to access and very secure. The hotel staff, however, went above and beyond. They were extremely helpful and communicative - particularly when we were there when the whole country lost electricity! They staff helped us return our rental car (which was stuck in the garage due to the power outage), while we went to the airport and made our flight. So thankful for all of their help, you won't regret a stay here!

The staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms were fresh and airy, and very clean. The location is perfect for walking around and the staff suggested us some very good restaurants in the area. Breakfast was also a good variety and tasty. We would not hesitate to come back here, it was really charming and the care taken to make you feel welcome is clear. They let us store our bags after check out and called a taxi for us to the airport even when their transfer service was full. Really a sweet and cozy hotel!!!

Title: A Luxurious and Elegant Stay at Hotel GA Palace Rating: ★★★★★ I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel GA Palace during my visit to the city, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in every way. This new establishment truly lives up to its promise of luxury and elegance, providing a remarkable experience from the moment I stepped foot through its doors. Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the stunning architecture and tasteful interior design of the hotel. The attention to detail in every aspect, from the elegant furnishings to the carefully curated artwork, created an ambiance of sophistication and refinement that set the tone for my stay. The level of service provided by the staff, particularly Hugo, was nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, Hugo displayed a remarkable level of professionalism and attentiveness. He greeted me warmly and efficiently handled the check-in process, ensuring that everything was in order and that I felt welcomed and valued as a guest. Throughout my stay, Hugo consistently went above and beyond to cater to my needs and ensure my comfort. He was extremely knowledgeable about the hotel's amenities and services, providing valuable recommendations for dining options and local attractions. Whether it was arranging transportation or addressing any inquiries I had, Hugo was always prompt, courteous, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring a memorable experience. The accommodations at Hotel GA Palace were truly luxurious. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with modern amenities that added convenience and comfort to my stay. The plush bedding, high-quality linens, and attention to detail in room design created a serene and indulgent atmosphere, perfect for relaxation after a long day of exploring the city. Overall, my experience at Hotel GA Palace was truly outstanding.

FAQs about hotels in Norte Region

The Essence of Portugal

With fabulous beaches stretching from Caminha by the Spanish border to just south of Espinho, Portugal’s Norte region is known for beautiful scenery and historic cities.

Most Norte hotels on Booking.com are in its UNESCO World Heritage-listed capital Porto (or Oporto). Attractively spread over hills, it has wine cellars storing port from the Douro River Valley vineyards upstream.

Voted one of Portugal’s most liveable cities, Vila Real has the Mateus house overlooking a peaceful pond. Guimarães boasts a UNESCO World Heritage-listed historical centre and is known as the ‘birthplace of the Portugal’. Its stately castle and the Palace of the Dukes of Bragança are well worth a visit.

Bragança itself is by Montesinho Natural Park in north-east Norte, and a keep remains from its former castle. Chaves also has a castle keep and a Roman stone bridge, but unlike Braga, it no longer has remains of its Roman baths, erected over hot springs. Braga’s crowning glory is the Bom Jesus do Monte sanctuary, set high in hills, with a wonderful staircase and garden overlooking the city.

South of Galicia is the beautiful Peneda-Gerês area, Portugal’s only national park, and to its west is Viana do Castelo with its Norte beach hotels set on Blue Flag beaches. Also noteworthy is impressive Basilica de Santa Luzia, surveying the riverfront town below.

Pet friendly accomodation was our key factor, also this feel of entire and fully equipped rural house gave a sense of how people live in this area. We got really hooked up by the chimney and setting up the fireplace. It's very remote from everything surrounded by the mountains. There is a bakery in the nearby Rouças village which is the only place where it's possible to buy bread. Everything else needs to purchased before coming here.

The location was great mostly due to the views but on two occasions our Google GPS led us to goat / vineyard trails and some very slow, white knuckle driving on roads that generally shouldn't have been called that. The menu at the quinta was short but after the drive to get there, we weren't up to traveling somewhere else to eat out. The wine was excellent too.

A small city north of Porto, with a lot of history and attractions. Plenty of shops, cafes, old churches, and restaurants, but the bar scene is lacking. There are many senior citizens here, since it's one of the more affordable and lovable parts of Portugal. I like kebab restaurants, but otherwise cooked for myself in hostel kitchens.

Intertesting port town with a huge monastery on top of a hill. Loved the restaurants and it is easy to drive to other areas of Northern Portugal from there. The weather was comfortable, too. Be sure to bring Euros for tram ride to monastery. We went there to rest and relax between our Spain and Portugal tours.

This small city was an absolute gem - stunning ancient squares and streets filled with lovely cafes and restaurants, altogether not as touristy as it could have been and very easy to walk around. We dined in two of the main squares with traditional Portuguese cuisine and inexpensive wines, and lovely ice cream outlets. We took the cablecar up the hillside and walked back down. We visited the Ducal palace (fantastic reconstruction) and castle (ruin). We could easily have spent a week here relaxing and taking in the atmosphere. And very easy to reach from Oporto.

Matosinhos is a good place to visit if you want a vibrant neighbourhood near the sea. It’s not an holiday resort people live there it’s the type of place we like visiting. Beach at Esposende too difficult to swim in due to pepples. Other beaches at Ofir and Apulia excellent. Limited supply of restaurants and limitless supply of banks!!! Surprised by the obvious wealth amongst the Portuguese people with holiday homes here. Very few estrangers. Not for sailors. Good for families. Some surprising sculptures dotted around the esplanade from 1997 one in particular near the San Lorenca fort at Esponsende.

This place gets a well-deserved 5 stars—no doubt about it!

This place gets a well-deserved 5 stars—no doubt about it! From the moment we walked in, it felt warm, cozy, and totally like home. It’s huge, sparkling clean, and honestly… it looks even better than in the photos (and that’s saying something!). Usually with apartments that look this good, you think: “Yeah right, too good to be true.” But nope—this one actually turned out to be better than too good! It’s got everything. And I mean everything: coffee machine, iron, washing machine, dishwasher… you name it, it’s there—and all in tip-top shape. We were just the two of us, but there’s more than enough space for 4 or even 6 people to hang out comfortably. And the view… wow. Just wow. Need a room with a view? Look no further—this is the one!

Vila do Conde is a charming town that is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of a large city, if that is what you are used to, or looking to get away from. There are many good restaurants in the area. We hired a car for the duration of our stay as we wanted to travel further afield whilst adding stops along the way and choosing the most scenic routes.
