Prachuap is a delightful Thai town. The esplanade along the coast is super for walking, running, cycling. Ao Manao Bay is fantastic for chilling in a beach chair, zipping on a banana boat, or eating good Thai food. The weekend market has many different types of food and cheap clothes and accessories. There are also a couple of quality non Thai restaurants in the town, back from the coast and some good coffee shops. The temple on the hilltop is worth walking up, except for the monkeys. Nice beach, some activities, Kajak, ATV, restaurant, massage places, some caves. Some hotels are specifically kids friendly. Good beach if you want to relax or for a family. Ban Krut is a seaside resort which I’m sure is usually very quiet. We visited for new year so it was full of local Thai families setting up to enjoy new year on the beach - lots of food stalls and great atmosphere - fireworks sat at a table on the beach with beers from local vendor was just perfect! Rocky Point resort in Thap Sakeacis a fantastic relaxing place at the beach, not crowded, few great restaurants on the beach on easy walking distance. The resort also has a restaurant/bar which was closed while we were staying at the resort due to Covid 19 restrictions. However, they provide you with a menu so you can order food from a nearby restaurant which will be delivered at no extra costs at your villa. Bring some drinks for the evening and have a great evening on the porch. Breakfast however was served at the restaurant. Not really sure about Prachuap KK - far too many stray dogs which can feel a bit frightening especially at night! Not many reviewers have mentioned this - our host had walking sticks to deter the dogs and monkeys! The place is very low key and not many places to just sit and have a drink at the end of the day. Arrive at Lungcha homestay in the afternoon. Make a boat trip at sunset (starting point directly in front of the homestay). The lake with thousands of lotus flowers and birds is phantastic. They offer a 150.- baht dinner in Thai style (a bit oily, but good and plenty). Next morning do another sunrise trip: it is very different, because the light is different, there are more birds, the lotus flowers are open, the atmosphere is just magic. Costs 500,- baht for the boat (takes up to four people). Breakfast at Lungcha included and check out. There is not much to do or see near the homestay, perhaps you can stroll to the Ranger IV station in about 20 min, there is a small stripe of beach and access to the lake.Guest review byKurtAustria
