South Congress was definitely a highlight - it has such a fun mix of shops, coffee spots, and live music. Also East fifth and sixth street. We also loved exploring Zilker Park and catching the sunset views at Mount Bonnell. We tried a few of the classics - BBQ at Terry Black’s, tacos at Veracruz, and brunch at Café No Sé. Every meal was amazing, and there are endless options all over the city. ATX Cocina and Craft have to be some of my favorite restaurants I've ever been to. We walked a lot around downtown and South Congress, and when we needed to go farther, ubers were quick and reliable and CHEAP. We took an uber across the city for about 7 dollars. Also Waymo partnered with uber so you could randomly get a waymo which is scary but also a really fun experience and you can decline it if it isn't your thing. Parking can be a little tricky in busy areas, but overall it was simple to get around. Kayaking on Lady Bird Lake was a blast, and we loved the live music scene. You can find great bands almost any night of the week. We also enjoyed just exploring the neighborhoods, checking out breweries, and relaxing at Barton Springs Pool.Guest review byJacobUnited States - 10.0

We went to SPARE BIRDIE one mile away from the hotel and so loved it there! Golf simulator, games galore and just a fantastic place! Serve was outstanding. Sara was our waitress when my husband was having fun with the RANGE section of the golf simulator; we ordered smoked oysters, which were great and the spicy cauliflower--super terrific, and the artichoke/spinach dip (if you love cream cheese you will love it) along with wine (HAPPY HOUR--$6) and a Blonde beer...everything was perfect! Oh on Fridays if you arrive at 11am you can purchase a $30 wrist band and play anything there till 3PM! (At least at this point) We returned in the evening and were seated outside by Sara (she is amazing) and absolutely WENT NUTS/LOVED the Desert Highway band under the night sky--weather was perfect as well. My husband ordered an onion jam burger and said it was a 10!!! BTW the dirty, spicy martini was outstanding as well...they brought me fresh jalapeno slices to add!!! Check out DEALS and plan your FUN DAY AND NIGHT THERE...YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Darts, pool tables, bowling!!!)Guest review byNancyUnited States - 10.0

The downtown is both historic and also larger than most Texas historic downtowns and included multiple blocks rather than one street. It was lively with lots of restaurants, bars, and shopping places, as well as people sitting in folding chairs on the courthouse yard just enjoying the night. We went to a place that had people ages newborn to 90 and also had patron’s dogs, so everyone was welcome and it made for a better experience. I have already told several friends that they need to visit Georgetown because it was so much nicer than it seems in online posts. Parking was free and they had two attendants who showed us where the available spaces were. The entire city is clean and feels very safe. I’m looking forward to returning and plan to stay an extra day just to see the sights. I highly recommend if you’re anywhere near the area!Guest review byToniaUnited States - 2.0

I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights, and unfortunately my experience was far below expectations. The room was poorly maintained: two of the four USB outlets were not working, the wall light behind the bed did not function, the shower valve plate was loose, and the wall near the desk was scratched and damaged by the chair. Housekeeping did not service the bed daily. Breakfast service was also disappointing. On Sunday, the selection consisted only of plain eggs and white bread—no bagels, wheat bread, English muffins, fruit, yogurt, or other standard items. The juice came from a machine of very low quality, and everything was served on paper plates. On Monday, the situation worsened: no eggs were offered, the juice machine was shut down, and staff responded rudely when I inquired. At one point, the kitchen lights were even turned off while I was there, which made the experience very unpleasant. Given these issues, the value was extremely poor. The hotel charges close to $90 per night but provides a level of service and quality that would only justify $20–25. It was clear to me that customer satisfaction is not a priority here.Guest review byPaulUnited States - 6.0
Lakeway is an older resort that needs updating.
Lakeway is an older resort that needs updating. The pools were very nice. The restaurant was nice but expensive for what was offered. In general we felt this resort was overpriced for its condition. We were there for a family gathering and Lakeway worked well for this large group. I would not choose to return for just us as a couple.Guest review byJeanUnited States - 10.0

Four Points Holiday Inn is a superior location for Lake Travis/NW side of Austin. One of the cleanest inns we have stayed in with helpful staff and good quality breakfasts. Quiet, yet close to shopping and restaurants. We will be back when we are in Austin.Guest review byDeborah - 8.0

Didn't actually spend much time in Hutto proper, except to eat at The Texas Cafe, which was a funky, old-timey kind of diner. Oh, and the golf at Star Ranch was both accessible and enjoyable. Another spot, Taylor (one small town over) did catch our attention: lots of history. A number of heritage buildings and neat older homes in a concentrated area of town made it an interesting spot to explore on foot. Fun to to check out if one likes that kind of things. The Cele Store was another treat: kind of in the back of beyond, but worth the time to find it if one likes bbq served up plain and simple in a locale loaded with character.Guest review byRitaCanada - 2.0
Austin is a weird city.
Austin is a weird city. Lots to see and do and that makes it worth the trip, but not my kind of place. Too much traffic, cars and people on bikes, scooters and walking. Parking is a big problem and valet is costly. So happy to return to my quiet country life.Guest review byKarenUnited States
