Erie is my hometown and return each summer.
Erie is my hometown and return each summer. The Peninsula is nice, Waldameer amusement and water park is great for families, fishing and boating are popular, lots of shopping on Upper Peach Street. The zoo is very nice, plenty of golf courses, The Warner Theater rivals anything that I've been to in NYC, several independent restaurants and bars. Sometimes traffic is slow, several homes in the heart of town are well over 100 years old, sidewalks not maintained. Lake Erie sunsets on the beach can't be beat. Make sure to check which beaches in presque isle are open for swimming and if any of the attractions (like waldameer) are closed. Visited Presque Isle and a museum. Had dinner at Golden Corral, and the food was excellent. Getting around Erie was a nightmare--WAY too many one-way streets. Totally unnecessary.
