I have never made a review in booking, but for this hotel I have to make the best review, even thought we had trouble with hot shower in the first day, the hotel did every possible to compensate the issue, providing us with an update and giving us 50% off and free breakfast, beside of that, I have never seen a more gentle staff and a more incredible service in my life!

FAQs about hotels in Hawaii

The American Dream

Hawaii is everything you’ve seen in films and more. The USA’s 50th and most exotic state comprises over 19 volcanic islands with diverse landscapes, amazing beaches and rainforest greenery. It’s an exclusive destination, so of all Hawaii hotels, 5 star properties make up a decent proportion.

Home to Pearl Harbour, the capital Honolulu on O’ahu island has many hotels by Waikiki beach, immortalised in song and famous for excellent nightlife and surfing, as anyone familiar with Hawaii-5-0 will know. Northern O’ahu has some of the best winter surfing around.

The nearest island is laidback Molokai and to its south is unspoilt Lanai. East is the island home to most Hawaii hotels – Maui. Hiking to the green peaks of its rugged interior gives a completely different viewpoint. Of course, the beaches are still the main attraction and there is a long line of hotels on the beach on Booking.com, from green Lahaina all the way to beautiful Kapalua. Other fantastic beaches are found at Kihei and neighbouring Wailea.

South-west is Hawai’I (Big Island), dominated by Mauna Loa – one of the world’s largest volcanoes. In its foothills are the joint resorts of Kailua and Kona, while the northern Kohala coast provides spectacular scenery. In the east Hilo curves around a bay and is home to the island’s airport.

Everything was perfect for our 8-night stay at this property! We arrived around noon & we were able to check-in early (always based on availability so never guaranteed) so we were already happy having flown from overseas. The staff were all amazing, friendly and professional! Staff like May (front desk), Dinah (our housekeeper), Josh, Yuta, Aaliyah were all amazing! They are the #1 reason why our stay was perfect from start to finish. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Waikiki Beach and it’s also located next to the Main Street (Kalakaua Street) where all the main shops, restaurants and stores are all located. We cannot say how perfect the location is about this hotel! At night, the hotel front gates close so you need to use your room card to enter so it’s super safe. Our room was perfect with a nice balcony & view and the amenities in the room are updated and made our stay very comfortable. The continental breakfast (fyi they only offer cold options like muffins, fruit cups, cereal, coffee and croissants which can be toasted) was plentiful to have a healthy and good start to our day. Breakfast is 7am-9am with last call at 8:45am so make sure to get up early for breakfast if you want to eat and paid for it! The front desk is 24/7 so it’s helpful if you ever needed anything. There is a pool and ATM on the ground floor as well as laundry facilities behind the front desk which guests can use. Do note that amenities like toothbrushes will need to be requested at the front desk in person/via phone since they are trying to be green and environmentally-conscious but we didn’t mind that at all and appreciate their hard work and efforts. We will definitely stay at this hotel if we ever come back to Waikiki in the future!

An expensive place, best suited for a few days stopover...

An expensive place, best suited for a few days stopover rather than a 2 to 3 week holiday destination. A Pearl Harbour tour/visit provides an interesting historical experience, and any water based activities are great for a first time visitor. The Polynesian Culture Centre (PCC) is also educational and informative. Give the luau experience a miss, especially those provided by the hotels - overpriced. However f you would like to have the experience, perhaps do so as part of your visit to PCC. You can get around the Waikiki area without a car (walk, or take public transport (The Bus). Soon there will be a railway connection as a new option for some of your planned travel, Try Fire & Grill restaurant for a meal, give Earls a miss. Got a family - try Dennys - old but reliable, value for money.

The landscape is great!

The landscape is great! Hula Grill offers very good food (a little bit expensive), you can find vary beers in Maui Brewery, is too easy to move in Lahaina, but if you are interesting to visit Hana, I prefered to pay a tour instead to drive there and for me was good, of course you will spend more money, but you won't be worried to arrive there. Also, is kind of difficult if you don't enjoy driving a lot.

We went on a ghost tour to learn about the history of Hilo - and so many wonderful myths and legends and ghosts stories in the center of town! We loved the outdoor things we could do - from lava tubes, to volcanoes, to great views of waterfalls. The people we met were very friendly. The food EVERYWHERE was excellent (and we looked/tasted everything local). We wanted to go to the observatories, but our car rental was not an off-road vehicle, so we couldn't go on the roads to the top. The parking to the touristy part of center of town was very convenient. Kona was only a 2hr drive away, but we liked Hilo better, since it was friendlier and less crowded.

Kapaa seems to be an old town.

Kapaa seems to be an old town. It is not like Poipu or Hanalei but good small town. We had great meal at Fish Bar Deli, local foods (spam musubi and chicken karate) to take out at Wailua Drive In, and big bowl of pho at Pho Kapaa. These places were busy with local people and we enjoyed their meals as well as services.

We loved the location and how close we were to the beach!

We loved the location and how close we were to the beach! Lots of walking paths. Very quiet around the area, but the people above us were stomping across the floor at all hours of the night and early morning. The pool needs some bug control as we had flies on us non-stop and bites on us from the bugs. The host was very accommodating and gave us extra toiletries and even provided box fans which was really nice! The king bed was very comfortable. We would stay here again.
