FAQs about hotels in Manhattan
Wake Up in the City That Never Sleeps
Nothing prepares you for your first glimpse of Manhattan. This legendary island is everything you’ve seen and read. And more.
Its most famous skyscraper is the Empire State Building, though some argue that views from the Top of the Rock in the Rockerfeller Centre are even better as they actually feature NYC’s most iconic building. Equally unmistakable is the Chrysler Building, overlooking Grand Central Station whose interior is pristine.
Wandering Times Square it’s easy to see why this city never sleeps. Broadway, with its theatres, runs through it and continues to Central Park, a haven of greenery. At its midway point is the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and MoMA is another museum nearby.
Other midtown Manhattan attractions include Radio City Music Hall and St Patrick’s Cathedral, while further south are the intriguing districts of Greenwich Village, Little Italy and Chinatown. Streets in between house the bastions of New York shopping – Macy’s, Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue.
However, the real business goes down at Manhattan’s southernmost tip, where Wall Street houses the New York Stock Exchange. North-west is the Ground Zero Memorial, while from southern Battery Park ferries depart to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.
Space is at a premium in NYC so there aren’t many Manhattan hotels with free parking. However, Booking.com does offer great Manhattan hotel deals, including cheaper options.

I love walking, and usually walk a few miles every day.
I love walking, and usually walk a few miles every day. Manhatten IS walkable if, like me, you are pretty fit, plus it's almost impossible to get lost as it has a very logical grid system. If you're not very fit, then it has a good subway system which I did use from time to time. It also has a bike rental scheme that I saw lots of people using (but can't comment on ease of use as I didn't use it myself.) In my experince I found NYC friendlier than I was lead to believe it would be - I had some great chats with people! I cut my knuckle one day (caught it on something exiting the subway) and a street vendor make a great effort to help me with first aid - making sure I was ok. People being warm and friendly was the norm in my experience. My budget hotel was super friendly (The Carlton Arms - East 25th and 3rd Avenue in Gramercy). There is always something to do and something to see. Just a few of the things I did: I went to a comedy show one night at New York Comedy club (the Midtown venue) - which was great fun! I visited the Met museum (stunning - but make sure you allow at least a whole day) walked the High Line from Hudson Yards (really impressive and FREE), skipped going to the Empire State building and instead opted for The Edge - absolutely stunning views, a MUST. I went into St Patrick's Cathedral - a beautiful building to rival any English cathedral, incredible modern mural that is in keeping with the building. I went to Brooklyn (walked via Williamsburg Bridge) and got the very reasonably priced ferry back to Manhatten. On my last day I went to Queens and had the most amazing Tibetan food in Jackson Heights, and had Kashmiri tea in a little Indian cafe - New York is a truly international city. This was my fourth trip to the US but my first to NYC. I am eager to go again, it really is one of the greatest cities in the world.Guest review byrolpa - 10.0

From the periodic information passengers were able to get my United flight to Portland Maine was repeatedly delayed and then cancelled because the plane would not be able to land once it arrived. Apparently the problems on 4 September were building up throughout the day. Before the flight from LA landed my daughter in Sydney, Australia messaged me to tell there were ”shenanigans” at Newark.Guest review byMargaretAustralia - 2.0

Bronx is a good place but the house and all the shenanigans about no one picking the call but texting only. I thought it was a hotel not knowing it’s a house in some dark places in Bronx. I texted the person back that I’m not interested because I feel uncomfortable and have asked for a refund of $203. Shiiii….Guest review byPhilip - 10.0

We were traveling from central PA to visit the Statue of Liberty and didn't want to make the trip in one day, so we decided to get lodging the night prior to our day trip. We debated on whether to stay in New Jersey or New York. We searched for rooms and this motel in Jersey City seemed like a good choice. It was perfect. We walked to a coffee shop in Jersey City and felt quite safe. We passed many solo joggers, mothers with small children and bicyclists. The part of the city we were in was very clean. We were pleasantly surprised.Guest review byCornelius - 10.0

After landing at Liberty, we rented a car for our tours of NYC. Finding and paying for parking in NYC was a difficulty I could live without. Fortunately, most tolls were paid with the car rental agreement. The Secaucus location was perfect for driving, but the buses stop right outside the hotel. If it were available to guests, more information on bus routes to the City's main attractions, as well as details on paying for bus and subway toll passes and wheelchair accessibility, would be helpful and might change how a traveler chooses to get around.Guest review byReyesUnited States - 6.0
