We went to NYC to attend an opera at The Met Opera Theatre. Great experience! We filled in the other evenings with musicals. So many from which to choose. We took advantage of a 2 day pass on a hop on - hop off bus. Other than that, we walked. At Central Park, we hired a pedicab and had an informative ride. The Falls is a wonder of nature - definitely worth seeing, especially from the Canadian side. There are many restaurants close to the park and hotels if you like Indian cuisine or fast food. There are some great breweries in town, such as Fidens and Common Roots. I would also recommend Stacks espresso for coffee or breakfast sandwiches. Also worth walking around Empire State Plaza and checking out the New York State Museum as well as the large art installations below the plaza itself. The state capitol building is also very neat, although two sides of it were under construction while I was in town. If you're traveling through on the train as I was, there is a bus that will pick you up across from the train station that drops you off in downtown. Lake Placid is beautiful. There are many things to see and do. however the prices were a bit high. Mirror Lake is wonderful. Didn't get a good look at Lake placid. Really need to shop around for reasonably priced dining. We enjoyed Mt. Vanhoven Berg. Enjoyed the Olympic Musem. It is a very walkable city based on the area I was in. Traffic was not to heavy compared to where I am from. The streets are a little confusing with the traffic pattern changes and the lines I the street not being very clear as some of them needed to be repainted but thats probably not an issue if you drive there often .
