- From US$252.88 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 90 reviewsStop looking further and book the Zwartberg Mountain View Lodge, it is magnificent! We stayed for two nights with our four children (9-14 yrs) and absolutely loved the lodge, the view, the animals on the grounds, the pool, the braai dinners and the walking trail. Varley and Hannalize are fantastic and helpful hosts and we very much enjoyed talking to them about life in SA as well as the many great sites in the area. We could easily have stayed another night or two. A highlight on our trip. Easy accessible with any car. Hope that we will visit again one day!Guest review byNicolasSwitzerland
- From US$100.58 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 411 reviewsThe Chalet was perfect and had everything we required. The best part was the braai station, right outside, with plenty of wood available. The surroundings were beautiful and tranquil, and we saw many zebras and other bucks walking around. The on-site restaurant had really great food and drinks. If you'd like to self cater, the kitchen is well set up. All you need is the groceries and braai meat to see you through your stay. Accessing shops once you are there is not an easy trip, as the lodge is truly in the middle of nowhere... which is wonderful.Guest review bySUMONAUnited Arab Emirates
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 487 reviewsOur stay at the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve was extraordinary. The scenario is breathtaking, and the hospitality is warm and welcoming. The services are top-notch, and the lodges are luxurious and well-maintained. The organization of the safaris is flawless: we spotted giraffes, elephants, lions, cheetahs, rhinos and antelope. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and accommodating, making the experience even more special. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to immerse themselves in South Africa's wilderness.Guest review byLuigi ScaminaciItaly

A really beautiful experience for anyone who loves climbing trees! Staff was so friendly for our welcoming. These units seem to be built for summer, they did their best to help with visitors in winter like us and provided everything they could, and we battled with the cold. No regrets and we still loved it!Guest review byDianaUnited Arab Emirates
- From US$86.21 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 780 reviewsThe Lodge is on an active farm, and it was fun seeing all the animals. We saw all the little lambs running out to the fields, ostriches, deer and antelope, a cow, and a very friendly old dog who enjoyed walking with us all over the farm. The breakfast was wonderful, and the rooms were basic but neat. For the price, it was good value for money.Guest review byJohan MarTaiwan

Unfortunately, we were there on a Monday and most restaurants close at 17:00 on a Monday. However, our host recommended we have dinner at the Karoo Art Hotel with a choice of fine dining or pub dinner. We choose pub dinner, which was delicious. Beautiful trail walks can be found around the farms. All-in-all a wonderful trip.Guest review byvan Zyl - 6.0

On arrival, we were greeted by overflowing sewers pouring out into the main road. Smelt so bad, we could not go near the liquor store near the main road. Apart from that issue, the rest of the town was great.Guest review byDouglasSouth Africa - 10

We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale, because when we arrived at the locked farm gate, we found there was no reception. We couldn't reach him, and it was soon getting dark, so we had to keep driving until we got signal again, which only took five minutes. Wann, the manager, was soon there and opened the gate to paradise for us... remote, behind two other farms, we were able to spend comfortable days in this Karoo resort. Wann was always available, and one evening his wife cooked us a delicious meal. A river, a hot tub, an ice bath, peace and quiet, and an endless sky—what more could you want? This is the place to be for anyone needing a break. For more romance, under the stars, bring candles and reading lamps.Guest review byIsabellaSouth Africa - 10

Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise - so convenient . Also we had not been there before so it made an interesting stop over. Scenery was stunning and the road excellent. Hotel built in 1832 (I understand). Uniondale is about 14 kms off main road and entry and exit are through two mountain passes which were most attractive.Guest review byChristopherSouth Africa - 8.0

From the main road it looks like just another dusty deserted Karoo town. What a pleasant surprise on turning off into the little town. We had a superb breakfast at @Stuff and met some interesting locals. The town is experiencing a resurgence and is intersting, well maintained and spotlessly clean.Guest review byRobynSouth Africa - 10
