Excellent amenities and services. We were also offered an upgrade to an apartment from our room. We were travelling a lot and use the room only to sleep, bath and relax a little bit after long days. So we have no clue about the restaurants. The parking is sufficient and the hotel is well placed to make trips in the surroundings. We felt very well treated.

Had the most incredible stay at Hakone Honbako. I have been to Hakone several times and this is the only hotel I have found very quiet and relaxing, and this resort exceeded my expectation especially in terms of food. The food was impeccable. They are explain Edo culture on the dishes, also provide explanations in Japanese and English. In the restaurant, everyone gathers around the counter and there is a unique sense of togetherness. There was a new discovery: experiencing Edo culture, which even the Japanese do not know. One night is not enough, I will want to stay at this hotel for two or more nights to enjoy a good book and a meal. Hope to be back again one day!

The choice of this hotel was a small accident, because the surrounding high-end hot spring hotel that was originally planned to stay for several days happened to have no rooms on Saturday, and I chose this hotel through search, but I did not expect to get an unexpected surprise. The most special feature of this hotel is a combination that retains the dining, scenery and hot springs elements of a traditional Japanese hot spring inn, but combines the style with the modern industrial design of the Nordic series, which can appeal to a wider audience, especially the younger group. At the same time, the co-existence of multi-storey houses and villa areas is adopted, retaining two options below one type, and the on-site café bar is very modern and stylish, and also harmoniously coexists with the surrounding scenery.
